Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind.  “Pooh?” he whispered.  “Yes, Piglet?”  “Nothing,” said Piglet, taking Pooh’s paw.  “I just wanted to be sure of you.”

Welcome.

I work with people who have faced challenges or difficulties in their home environment, as well as those who have encountered unhealthy or unsupportive relationships later in life, whether in school, sports teams, university, among friends, or in the workplace. As a Doctor in Depth Psychology, Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, and Board Certified Health Counselor, I draw on my professional training (see below), weaving together approaches to meet each client’s unique needs. To get started, you can schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation to discuss your needs and hopes. In this initial conversation, I’ll share my approach, answer your questions, and aim to create a compassionate, safe space where you feel heard and supported as we explore the possibility of working together.

Depth Psychology

Depth psychology offers a way to understand our inner world and collective experience by looking beyond surface experiences to the deeper currents that shape feelings, thoughts, and relationships. It invites us to explore the unconscious, dreams, symbols, emotional patterns, life themes, and those hidden aspects of ourselves—qualities or impulses we may avoid or deny. This process can help us rediscover inner strengths and resources, encouraging integration, renewed trust, and a grounded sense of wholeness. Depth psychology also honors how personal and collective experience, imagination, spirituality, and the presence of soul shape our journey, guiding us not only through challenge and transformation, but also creativity and moments of wonder. Rooted in psychology, mythology, literature, indigenous wisdom, and the arts, depth psychology welcomes the numinous—those profound, awe-filled experiences that can illuminate our path and deepen our sense of meaning, inviting a slower, reflective way of being.

Somatic Experiencing®

Somatic Experiencing® (SE) is an approach for resolving symptoms related to trauma and chronic stress. Developed by Dr. Peter Levine, SE uses a psycho-biological approach that does not require fully re-tell or re-live traumatic events. With an emphasis on the felt sense of the body and instinctual responses, SE gently guides individuals in a slow, supportive fashion, increasing tolerance for complex sensations and emotions and offering corrective experiences. By focusing on the present moment, individuals learn to distinguish past impressions from present circumstances. This process invites greater emotional and physical awareness, strengthens inner stability and agency, and highlights the healing capacity of co-regulation—the nervous system’s capacity to settle through steady, attuned connection with another. This process can open the way for deep repair, renewed safety, and a rediscovery of embodied aliveness. By honoring the body’s wisdom and following the impulses that arise naturally, profound transformation is possible.

Holistic Counseling

For those interested in an integrative approach to health and wellness, we examine how all areas of life are interconnected. Counseling may focus on areas such as work, health, creativity, vision, purpose, and relationships. A key tool is inquiry—gently examining beliefs, patterns, and experiences to deepen self-awareness and open the door to change. Inquiry is not about finding quick answers, but about fostering curiosity and compassionate self-reflection. Your insights and lived experience are always at the center of our work, guiding each step of your journey. I serve as a reflective sounding board, supporting positive changes tailored to your unique needs, lifestyle, and cultural background. When appropriate, I may recommend medical tests through your primary doctor. This approach honors the dynamic interplay of body, mind, environment, and nutrition, inviting a deeper sense of inner coherence and alignment.

Interpersonal Neurobiology

Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB) offers a truly holistic view of what it means to be human. Rather than seeing the mind as only the brain, IPNB understands the mind as an embodied and relational process—one that emerges from and regulates the flow of energy and information within us, between us, and even with the world around us. At its core is integration: linking different parts of ourselves into a balanced whole. When integration is supported, we’re better able to regulate emotions, feel empathy, and experience resilience and coherence. Trauma and chronic stress are seen not as isolated symptoms, but as disruptions in this integration. IPNB invites a mindful, attuned presence that honors how early attachment, relationships, and embodied experience shape our inner landscape. Through somatic awareness and supportive connection, we can gradually re-weave our neural and emotional patterns into a more grounded, connected sense of self.

My Philosophy in Working With People

Psychology means “care of the soul,” honoring the full complexity of what it means to be human. Healing arises through whole-mind integration—engaging body, brain, emotions, and relational field as one interconnected system of innate wisdom, beyond left-brain cognitive focus alone. This compassionate approach reclaims your body as a source of wisdom, belonging, and transformation.

Honoring Adaptive Protections

Emotional and physical well-being occurs when our wounds are given thoughtful attention, unraveling the coping habits we used to avoid pain in the past. Individuals often carry deep-seated coping mechanisms from past challenges—stored not just in thoughts but also in physical sensations (e.g., muscle tension, rapid breathing, or numbness) and feelings—that once kept them safe. When these become trapped patterns, they influence bodily sensations, emotions, and behaviors beyond conscious intellect. These are not flaws to fix, but protections to honor and inquire into. Such attending invites compassion for hidden parts that hardened or quieted along the way, fostering acknowledgement over pathologizing.

Integrative Modalities for Safety and Empowerment

Drawing on Somatic Experiencing®, Trauma and Attachment Therapy, Depth Psychology, and Dream Analysis, sessions facilitate the discharge, renegotiation, and reorganization of locked-in responses at the individual’s own rhythm. Gentle mirroring of body movements, thoughts, feelings, and intuition deepens present-moment embodiment, building grounding, resourcing, and self-regulation. The relational field co-creates safety to explore, connection to feel, and empowerment to change, offering practical tools for resilient navigation and reconnection with the body’s wisdom.

Non-Linear Path to Authentic Living

Healing unfolds non-linearly—not toward perfection, but toward an expanded capacity for authentic, regulated living. Sustainable change emerges from body awareness and relational safety, helping the body and psyche inhabit the present. As Fritz Perls noted, truth becomes yours when you uncover it yourself, making change feel natural and empowering. This heart-centered process nurtures the soul’s unfolding, celebrating individuality in everyday depths.

FAQs

What does a Counseling session look like?

In most sessions, the client and counselor sit opposite each other. Mostly, you (the client) will do the talking, and I will facilitate the journey of exploring your thoughts, feelings, and intuition, mirroring back your body movements and taking you deeper into the process. By allowing your body and psyche to more fully inhabit the present, you enhance your capacity to effectively self-regulate.

How long is a counseling Session?

Sessions are typically 60 minutes. I create a standing weekly appointment in my schedule for you, which is your time only. Essentially, we both commit to our time together and agree to start on time while also being mindful of the allotted time for our appointment. Should you be late to a session, the session will end at the scheduled time. This allows me to keep my professional commitment to each person.

WHERE DO Sessions TAKE PLACE?

Sessions typically take place via Zoom unless otherwise agreed. After your session booking, you will receive your individual login details.

What is the RECOMMENDED FREQUNCY OF SESSIONS?

A weekly therapeutic commitment is initially most clinically beneficial. The consistency and predictability of meeting once per week allow trust to develop and our relationship to be built on continuity over time. Since the work supports different patterns to take shape in your nervous system, regularity is essential.

What is the CANCELLATION/RESCHEDULING POLICY?

I require at least 48 hours’ advance notice for rescheduling or cancellation. Likewise, should I need to postpone a session, I will give you the same advance notice. Even with 48 hours' advance notice, options for an alternative time can be limited. Often, with more advance notice, it’s easier for me to find another possibility during the week that’s mutually convenient. In the event that you cancel less than 48 hours before a scheduled appointment, you will be responsible for the session fee.
